This is an intriguing elestial scepter formation from the Karur district in Tamil Nadu, India.  The main portion of the scepter is covered in caves and crevices created by the highly elestial formation of the scepter head.  There are internal hoppers that have been created by those caves being closed over with clear quartz.  Tracing some of the surface cavities are linings of red clay trapped in the quartz after the crystal was washed with eons old muddy water.  Towards the bottom of the scepter, the quartz goes from being nearly colorless to being delineated by smoky phantoms that darken the further down the scepter head you go.  The scepter eventually becomes one with the white quartz shaft which is dotted with small inclusions of dark hematite.  But the true beauty of this scepter is that it hides a heart of amethyst despite its first impression of smoky-white quartz.  In the main face of the crystal there is a triangular opening that goes all the way down to the original crystal which forms the shaft that the elestial overlay coated forming the scepter.  In this window, you can see down into the original crystal, and in bright light, a dark amethyst phantom becomes visible seemingly encased in the triangle window.

Crystals and minerals from the Karur district of India are just making it back into circulation after the entire region was devastated by the Tsunami in 2004.
